The hammer fell at Fuji Brandenburg

April 2023

After many months of dedication, commitment and hard work, the time had finally come - our production site in Golßen was officially opened on April 12, 2023.

“Opening for happiness”
This was an occasion to celebrate - and the “hammer fell” in the truest sense of the word.
Namely at the “Kagami Biraki”. This is a typical Japanese ritual; the opening of a sake barrel together with the guests.
“Kagami Biraki” literally means ‘open mirror’, as the round lid looks like a mirror and reflects ‘opening for happiness’. The barrel is opened by hitting the lid with a small wooden hammer.
In addition, sharing sake from the barrel also has a meaning of “sharing happiness”. This is why the sake barrel has been served as an auspicious drink on festive occasions since ancient times.
Scott Masayoshi Kato, Managing Director of Fuji Brandenburg GmbH here in Golßen, led us through this ritual and said in his speech “It is a special day”.
He also shared this opinion with our guests, many of whom had accepted our invitation.

“National and international guests in Golßen”
We were not only able to welcome guests from politics and business, but also many representatives from a wide range of national and international companies, some of whom have been supporting us with advice and assistance since our company was founded. These included the neighboring Emsland-Aller Aqua GmbH and the Emsland Group, which were represented by the management, among others. Partners without whom the construction of our site and ultimately our official opening in April would not have been possible.

“Production with sustainability”
Fuji Brandenburg GmbH focuses on sustainability in its production. “That is one reason why this company is a good fit for Brandenburg,” says Hendrik Fischer, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Energy of the State of Brandenburg. It was a great honor for us to be able to accept his congratulations in person. The visit of Mr. Hidenao Yanagi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Germany, was also of great importance to us. He is proud to be present at the opening of the first location of this kind in Germany and emphasized that Japan and Germany are deeply connected at all levels.

Daniela Maurer, honorary mayor of the town of Golßen, also took the opportunity to address words of thanks to us on our stage. If we had awarded a prize for the longest journey, it would definitely have gone to the President and Managing Director of Fuji Oil Holdings. We were delighted that Mikio Sakai made the long journey from Japan to congratulate us personally on our opening.

“A tour of the production facility”
Eager to find out what goes on behind the scenes at Fuji Brandenburg, none of the guests missed the opportunity to take part in the tours of our production building. In guided tours - in German, English and Japanese, of course - we were able to proudly present what we have built at Fuji Brandenburg. Of course, it was necessary to put on the appropriate clothing before entering the production area. The guests clearly had fun taking photos of themselves wearing disposable gowns, hoods and overshoes.
“Refreshment at the delicious buffet”

After the tours, everyone was able to enjoy a delicious buffet. This was an ideal opportunity to ask the Fuji Brandenburg GmbH team a few questions and make new contacts. The regional press also took the opportunity to conduct interviews in a relaxed atmosphere to report on the official opening of Fuji Brandenburg GmbH on April 12.

“We say thank you”
We would like to say THANK YOU to all the guests who celebrated this special occasion with us. Thank you for the congratulations and gifts. A big thank you goes to all our colleagues at Fuji Brandenburg GmbH, who make a daily contribution to the further development of our production site. Last but not least, our thanks go to all the service providers who helped us to make this day a very special one.

The IHK Brandenburg also reported on our opening in its business magazine FORUM. Find out more here.
